Luke 5.17-25 + John 10.14-16
1.
They heard the words
but couldn't understand
fascinating news from another land
And black was white
new religion in town
this man from Galilee put upside down
They who just heard
what love is about
wanted to close the circle and others stay out
The house was packed
to disturb was a sin
People from the streets took the roof to get in
They wanted Jesus to heal that man
who'd been sick for a long, long time
They put him right before the master
but the others were upset and cried
Chorus
This is the night of the proms
How could you dare to come in
How could you think you were part of a righteous society
when you're sick and when you're full of sin
This is the night of the proms
Religious movement of Galilee
It's no open house for those who just believe
they come in for free
2.
There'll be a day
it will come like a thief
when even will be odd and black be white I believe
The rich will be poor
and the first will be the last
Members on the scene will be another cast
The ones who suffered will get their crown
the honest doubters will get their reward
and even those on the bad side of town
by grace will be with the Lord
Chorus
This is the night of the proms
when they will understand
what they thought is righteous and thought is believe
does not count in what they call promised land
This is the night of the proms
when everybody will see
It's an open house for those
who just believe
they come in for free
